Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a cosmetic treatment that can help create the appearance of hair in people with baldness or thinning hair. SMP uses a fine needle and ink to apply a tattoo of tiny dots to the scalp. This method creates the image of short cut hair or a buzz cut for those with a bald head/receding hairline. This procedure can also benefit those with thinning hair to add density or the look of a fuller head of hair, by camouflaging the scalp.

How long does the procedure take?
The duration of the SMP procedure can vary depending on the extent of the treatment. A single session can take 2-4 hours, the fist session is usually the longest. The total number of sessions required for the treatment may vary depending on the amount coverage needed.
How long does recovery take?
The scalp may experience redness and swelling, which typically lasts only a few days. Complete recovery takes about 10 days after each session. After care instructions are provided and are discussed during the consultation process.

How long does SMP last?
SMP, like other permanent cosmetic procedures, is considered semi-permanent. Typically lasting 2-5 years depending on client skin type, lifestyle and exposure to sunlight. A touch up is recommended after this time period to maintain the appearance or to cover additional areas due to continued hairloss.
